So we notice a common theme amongst the women in our lives. The majority of the women we know are super overwhelmed, exhausted AF and anxious as all hell. Worrying about literally everything ...relationships, bank accounts, self confidence, bodies, health, safety and their own well being. Oh, and not to mention all that is multiplied if you have a pet, significant other, a kid or the insanity that occurs when you’ve got a full blown family to worry about!
You wake up already tired from the day before. Without practicing awareness; the worrying, the negative thoughts and emotions can penetrate your mind, causing you to have anxiety and bouts of depression. Our minds are constantly in the future trying to plan and prepare or in the past trying to correct and repair. It’s like being on a damn hamster wheel, repeating the chaos and going nowhere. We all know the definition of “insanity,” doing the same thing and expecting different results. Shit happens. That’s life taking its toll and we have totally been there.
Good news though...every day you have the opportunity to begin the practice of self care. As Jim Rohn famously said, “Either you run your day or the day runs you.” We have found that to be an absolute truth. Investing your time in morning and evening rituals amplifies your potential to achieve all of your goals. Beginning the morning with an intention and gratitude for everything you already have going for you, allows both your mind and body to focus, to stay calm and to remain happy throughout the day. Winding your mind body and soul down every evening allows you to reflect, reset, recharge and prepare for a successful day upon awakening.
This is serious business, we would like to push it a step further and say that it is your worldly duty as a feminist to have a daily self care practice. We have been conditioned for centuries to adopt this attitude of servitude...the shit runs deep in our psyches and societal systems. We give and give all day long and we deplete ourselves, physically, emotionally and mentally. Women often get praised for taking care of everyone before themselves. That’s so old school and backwards and we end up feeling the opposite of empowered. We are entering a time in history when it is more evident than ever that women are necessary to create meaningful change in the world. How can we heal the world if we are so tired we can’t even wash our makeup off at night? Girl, it's time to start taking the advice of flight attendants everywhere and place your oxygen mask on first! Lalah Delia says it best, “self care is how you take your power back.” Investing time to create and maintain both morning and evening rituals will give you the foundation in which you can cultivate the energy and the confidence to build your dreams. Every week we will help explore ideas, share tips and tell stories that will inspire you to make the ultimate investment.. time for yourself. This is the space between knowing you need to change and doing the things that create change.
Let it be..

Your morning ritual should be able to travel the world with you, and transcend jobs, relationships, friendships, and leases. It will soon become the launching pad, so solid in its foundation that it will support and propel all of your big dreams. No time like the present, let’s get it started!
